(On the 1891 census the enumerator started at this address in Alcester Street after 7 Salters Yard) On the 1901 census Sarah was now a widow and still lived at this address. On the 1881 census they lived in Walford Street, Redditch. Alfred was the son of John and Ann who lived in Alcester Street on the 1871 census. Alfred died in 1895.

Notes: Wife Ann Eliza (34) plus 5 children at home. On the 1871 census they lived in Red Lion Street, Redditch. In the 1855 Billings Directory and Gazetteer John’s father John Smallwood senior was classed as Fish Hook Maker, Red Lion Street. In the 1873 Littlebury’s Directory and gazetteer it stated that John Smallwood & Sons, Central Works, George Street, Redditch. At the time of his death 10th February 1891 John was living in Red Lion Street, Redditch and it stated that he was a Fish Hook and Fishing Tackle Manufacturer. On the 1891 census his wife Ann was living 26 Red Lion Street.

Notes: Wife Matilda (25) plus 2 children at home. The enumerator had put this down as Red Lion Street but fairly sure this was actually Alcester Street. On the 1891 census Henry lived with his mother Elizabeth in Feckenham. In the 1900 Kelly’s Directory an Edwin Humphreys had a Butcher’s shop here.

(On the 1911 census the enumerator started at this house in Alcester Street after 18 Market Place) (On the 1911 census they had stated that they had had 4 children born alived but 1 had died) On the 1901 census the enumerator had them as living 4 Red Lion Street but fairly sure it should have been 4 Alcester Street.
