On the 1871 census they lived in Red Lion Street, Redditch at the Carpenters Shop. On the 1891 census they lived in Evesham Street. In the 1873 Littlebury’s Gazetteer and Directory of Worcestershire Charles was classed as Builder, Contractor, Carpenter, Joiner & Coffin Maker, Red Lion Street and Alcester Street.

Notes: Wife Sarah (Powell) (45). No number was stated on the census but at 40 Alcester Street on the 1901 and 1911 census and seem to be at this number along the street. In the 1873 Littlebury’s Directory and Gazetteer John was Wheelwright, Wellington Street. In the 1884 Kelly’s Directory he was Wheelwright, Wellington Street & Peakman Street, Redditch. In the 1892, 1896 & 1900 Kelly’s Directories John was Wheelwright & Timber Dealer, 40 Alcester Street.
