(On the 1871 census the enumerator started along Alcester Street after Smith Street) No numbers stated on this census but seems to be at this number along the street. On the 1861 census they lived in Bromsgrove Road, Redditch. In the 1873 Littlebury’s Directory and Gazetteer John was classed as Greengrocer, Alcester Street. John died in 1875.

In the 1900 Kelly’s Directory there is an entry for John Barker, Hairdresser, 27 Alcester Street. In the 1924 Kelly’s Directory one of her boarders Harry Ashmore is now a hairdresser at this address.
