Notes: Wife Catherine (43) + 1 niece Catherine Ballard (16) + 1 servant + 4 travellers at home. On the 1871 census James and Catherine were staying with their niece Catherine Ballard, Innkeeper of the Fleece Inn and they were in Evesham Street. James was the licensee of the Fleece Inn 1861-1864.

Notes: Catherine had her Uncle James Oakley (47) Farmer who was the licensee of the “Fleece Inn” 1861-1864 + Aunt + 2 cousins at home. Catherine was the licensee 1868-1871. She was living with her Uncle James on the 1881 census at 37 Evesham Street.

Notes: Wife Emma (31) plus 6 children + 1 servant + 1 boarder at home. On the 1871 census he was a Farmer and Beerhouse Keeper at the “Royal George”, 29 Evesham Street. John was the licensee of the “Fleece” in 1881. On the 1891 census he was the Inn Keeper of the Rose & Crown in Feckenham and was the licensee there 1889-1892 and then at the “Crown Inn”, Astwood Bank 1893-1894. In the 1880, 1884, Kelly’s Directory he was Farmer at “Round Radford” Alvechurch. John died 11th January 1899 and was living at the “Rose & Crown”, Portway, Solihul.

Notes: Wife Catherine (Pinfield) (55) plus 1 daughter a dressmaker at home. John was the licensee of the “Fleece Inn” 1896-1903. On the 1911 census they lived Unicorn Hill, Redditch and John was a Bacon Factor. John William Lewis Bennett died in 1915

Notes: Wife Mary (30) Dressmaker plus 4 children + 1 servant + 2 others at home. (James Maries was the first licensee of the Printer’s Arms in 1841-1850 and this was at 6 Evesham Street and it was so named because James Maries was a Printer – information from “Old Redditch Pubs”, Alan Foxall). On the 1851 census James was a Printer and they lived in Windsor Street, Redditch. In the 1842 Bentley’s Directory of Worcestershire vol-1 James was classed as Beerseller and Printer in Evesham Street. James died in 1863
