(On the 1911 census they had stated that they had had only 1 child born alive) On the 1901 census Thomas lived with his mother Martha and siblings in Mount Pleasant, Redditch. Thomas Ladbury died in 1948 and his wife Frances died in 1916

Notes: In the 1928 Kelly’s Directory Francis was an Umbrella maker, 60 Evesham Street. In the 1912 Kelly’s Directory Francis was an Umbrella Maker at Mount Pleasant, Redditch. On the 1911 census Francis lived at 23 Mount Pleasant and was a Milling Machinist, Cycle Industry with his wife Mary Ann and son.

Notes: Wife Mary (30) plus 6 children (one of whom is Walter (11) who on later census lived at 61 Evesham Street and Benjamin Brown (8) who on the 1861 census lived in Alcester Street) + 2 servants. No numbers stated on this census but seem to be at this address along the street. In the 1828 Pigot’s Directory Benjamin was classed as Baker but didn’t state which Street. In the 1835 Pigot’s Directory of Worcestershire Benjamin was classed under Baker & Flour Dealers. In the 1841 Pigot’s Directory Benjamin was classed under Bakers and Flour Dealers, Evesham Street. In the 1850 Slater’s Directory of Worcestershire Benjamin is classed under Bakers & Flour Dealers, Evesham Street.

Notes: Daughter Mary A. 23 plus sons Walter 22, Malster and William 15, Baker + 2 more daughters + 1 visitor + 2 servants. Walter & William were on later census at this address. On the 1861 census Benjamin in married to Anne and they lived at Ivy House, Bromsgrove Road and Benjamin was classed as retired Baker and Malsterer. In the 1860 Post Office Directory Walter and William Brown Maltsters and Corn Dealers, Evesham Street and Benjamin Brown (this Benjamin’s son) was Baker and Miller, Alcester Street. Benjamin died 3rd January 1889 in Burcott and he was classed as a Gentleman.

Notes: Wife Anne Catherine (Ricketts) (34) plus 2 children + 3 servant at home – seemed to live at this address on 1871 census but no numbers stated on this census but seems to be at this number along the Street. On the 1841 census Walter lived with his parents Benjamin and Mary in Evesham Street but no numbers stated on early census. In the 1855 Directory and Gazetteer of Worcester, Walter was classed as Malster, Ivy House, Littleworth, Redditch.

Notes: Wife Ann Catherine (44) plus 3 children + 2 servants at home – living here on the 1881 census but no numbers stated on 1871 census. In the 1870 Kelly’s Directory there was a Walter & William Brown, Coal Merchants and Malsters, Railway Station. Walter had a brother William so it would have been this Walter and his brother. In the 1873 Littlebury’s Directory and Gazetteer it stated Walter and William Brown, Malsters, Corn & Coal Merchants and Bakers, Evesham Street; depot at Railway Station.

Notes: Wife Annie (53) plus Robert 22 and John W. 12 + 1 servant at home. In Evesham Street on previous census and even on the 1841 census with his parents but no numbers stated on previous census. Still at 61 Evesham Street on 1891 and then his son John W. was at 61 Evesham Street and still in the family on the 1901 and 1911 census. In the 1884 and 1888 Kelly’s Directory Walter and William Coal Merchants and Malsters at 61 Evesham Street. In the 1924 Kelly’s Directory and then the family had moved to 71 Evesham Street in 1940 Kelly’s Directory. On the 1901 census Walter was at Highfield House, Highfield Road, Redditch and still a Corn Merchant employer.

Notes: Wife Ann (62) plus 1 working son, John W. 22 + 2 servants at home. On the 1901 census they lived at Highfield House, Highfield Road, Redditch and their son John Walter lived at 61 Evesham Street. On the 1911 census Walter was now a widower and lived in “Highfield”, Headless Cross. In the 1900 Kelly’s Directory it stated Brown, Walter and William Limited (John Walter Brown, Managing Director) Coal Merchants & Malsters, 61 Evesham Street. Also in the private residents it stated that Walter Brown lived Highfield House, Headless Cross.

In 1904, 1908, 1912 & 1916 Kelly’s Directory John lived at 61 Evesham Street. In the 1921, 1924, 1928 1932 & 1940 Kelly’s Directory John lived Park House, Evesham Road, Redditch.
