(In the 1911 summary book the enumerator went on to the “White Swan” in Evesham Street but normally the “White Swan was at 32 Evesham Street or in Vine Street as on the corner of both) (On the 1911 census Samuel had stated that they had had 2 children born alive) On the 1901 census he lived with his parents in Hanley, Staffs and he was a Butcher.

Notes: Wife Ruth (Shaw) (28) plus 1 son. (On the 1911 census they stated that they had had 2 children born alive but 1 had died) On the 1911 census “The White Swan was classed as Worcester Road and Evesham Street as it was on the corner of both. Reuben was the licensee of the “White Swan”, 1911-1912. The White Swan was on the corner of Worcester Road. (In the 1911 summary book the “White Swan” seems to be next door to 32 Evesham Street) On the 1901 census the “White Swan” was classed as being in Worcester Road on the census. On the 1901 census Reuben lived with his parents Reuben and Susannah in Parsons Row, Upper Ipsley. In the 1912 Kelly’s Directory Reuben was classed as Beer Retailer, 32 Evesham Street. On the 7th June 1916 Reuben joined Army Service Corps (Motor transport) and he was living Ten Acre Tavern, Stirchley, Birmingham and he was Beer House Manager. Reuben Canadine died in 1967

Notes: Wife Ann (46) plus 1 son + Baker’s servant + 1 niece + 1 servant + 1 errand boy at home. No numbers stated on this census but seems to be at this address along the Street. On the 1851 census they lived in Walford Street, Redditch and James was a Baker. In the 1855 Billing’s Directory and Gazetteer James was Baker & Shopkeeper, Walford Street, Redditch. In Jones’s 1865 Mercantile Directory of the Iron District of South Staffordshire and East Worcestershire.

Notes: Wife Sarah (Hollington) (28) plus 2 servants. Sarah was Sarah Hollington and the cousin of Frederick William Hollington the Draper at 21 Evesham Street. On the 1871 census William lived with his parents William & Susanna Webb at 13 Evesham Street. In Littlebury’s Directory 1873 William is classed as “Wine Agent” as a seperate entry but his main occupation was as partner to his father “William Webb & Son” Bakers & Confectioners, Evesham Street. William died 1st July 1887 (More details on Webbs of Redditch web site) On the 1891 census Sarah Webb and her family were living in Mount Pleasant and Sarah was living on own means.
