(On the 1871 census the enumerator started at the “Police Station & Public Offices” on the west side of Evesham street after Park Road) In the 1872 Post Office Directory it stated that the Police Station was erected in 1864 in Evesham Street with residence for the Sergeant, lockups, the magistrates room and the county court rooms, with retiring rooms and every convenience; the cost was close to £2,000. On the 1881 census Charles was Supt. of Police in Great Witley, Worcestershire. On the 1891 census Charles was classed as retired Superintendant of Police and lived with his wife Mary in Beoley Road, Redditch. In the 1876 Kelly’s Directory Charles was Sergeant of Police, Evesham Street. In the 1880 Kelly’s Directory Charles was Superintendant of Police, Police Station, Great Witley, Worcestershire.
