Notes: His wife, Mary, was 56 and born in Hanbury, Worcestershire. They had been married 31 years. They had had 6 children, but 2 had died, and 3 were still living with them. Alfred Kelsey was 23, single, born in Claines, Worcestershire, and a needle manufacturer’s forman. Eleanor Maria was 19, single, born in Claines, Worcestershire, and a commercial clerk. Albert Norman was 14, born in Worcester, and a commercial office boy. Alfred was a Police Inspector from Worcester when he arrived in Redditch in 1901 (The Worcestershire Chronicle, 6 July 1901). In 1916 the police superintendent was Samuel Davis

Notes: His wife, Gertrude, was 38 and born in Upton on Severn, Worcestershire. She was a a music teacher at home on her own account. They had been married for 7 years. The Institute’ referred to as the Redditch Literary and Scientific Institute. (On the 1911 census the enumerator started at this house after Church Green West) In 1871 Arthur and his family were in Dodington, Whitchurch, Shropshire.

Notes: John was single. John may have been the John Lovejoy who was a railway van guard living in Islington, London in 1901. However, there appeared to be no family links with Worcestershire.

Was William Wagstaff

Notes: His wife, Amelia (Willis) was 43 and born in Droitwich, Worcestershire. They had been married for 17 years. Four of their 5 children were still living with them. The sixth one had died.William Frederick Ernest was 16, born in Causeway, Worcestershire and a driller at a cycle factory. Frank Harry 14, born in Langley Green, Worcestershire and a spring maker in a spring factory. George Cyril was 11 and still at school. Dorothy Amelia was 8. Both she and George were born in Stoke Prior, Worcestershire. John Arthur was 1and born in Redditch In 1871 and 1881 William lived in Kidderminster with his family. His father, John, was a stonemason. In 1881 William was a plumber and glazier. In 1901 William was living in New Road, Stoke Prior, and was a police sergeant. In 1916 William was still a police inspector in Redditch.

Notes: Richard’s wife was Georgina Caroline and they had been married for 18 years. She was 49 and born in Eastbourne, Sussex. There were 4 children and all were born in Redditch. Doris Carita was 18, Kathleen Estelle was 16, Phyllis Marguerite was 14, and Richard William Webb Jnr was 12. Doris was a Post Office Assistant. Kathleen and Phyllis were at school, but Richard was receiving home tuition as he was ‘feeble minded from birth’. (On the 1911 census they had stated that they had had 5 children born alive but 1 had died) On the 1901 census they lived in Church Road but no numbers stated on the census.

Notes: His wife, Elizabeth, was 55, born in Ipsley Parish, Redditch, Warwickshire and a caretaker. They had been married for 36 years. They had had 7 children but 3 had died. In 1901 William was a fish hook filer and Elizabeth was a rusty needle picker. Their daughter , Eva, was 24, single and a needle wrapper. Their son, Albert, 22 and single, was a cycle repairer. Another son, Philip, was 12 and born in Hunt End, Worcestershire. Eve and Albert were born in Headless Cross, Worcestershire.
