William J Elliott, aged 11 and born in Birmingham Warks, was recorded as a Lodger. On the 1861 census Joseph lived with his parents Joseph and Eliza in Broughton Hackett. On the 1881 census they lived in 14 Walford Street, Redditch.

Notes: Wife Lucy (Millward) (34) + Mother-in-law Ann Millward (65) Needle Maker + 1 nephew + 1 lodger at home. James Rudge was the licensee of the Rifleman’s Inn (but seemed to be called Rifleman’s Arms on census) 1868-1880 and usually classed as being in Park Road. (Information from “Old Redditch Pubs” by Alan Foxall) On the 1881 census they lived in Unicorn Hill, Redditch. In the 1872 Kelly’s Directory James was Beer Retailer, Littleworth. In the 1873 Gazetteer and Directory of Worcestershire, James was at the Rifleman Inn, Park Road. In the 1876 Kelly’s Directory James was Beer Retailer, Park Road.

Harriet Crisp, aged 14, was a Domestic Servant. (On the 1871 census the enumerator stopped at his house in Littleworth and classed as end of District 1) On the 1861 census John lived with his parents James and Mary in Station Road, Redditch. On the 1881 census they lived in Ipsley Street and John was a Commercial Traveller.

Notes: Wife Ann (75) + 1 boarder. (On the 1891 census the enumerator stopped at this house in Littleworth after 50 Evesham Street but no number stated and then went on to 54 Evesham Street) On the 1881 census they lived at 1 Littleworth, Evesham Street which was between 44-46 Evesham Street but on the 1891 census it didn’t state what number they were at but seemed to be between 50-54 Evesham Street on the census. William died in 1895.
