(On the 1861 census Beoley Street became Alcester Street) On the 1861 census John and Maria were at the “Rising Sun”, 29 Alcester Street which would have been the Public House they ran on the 1841 and 1851 census only the street was classed as Beoley Street and not Alcester Street. In the 1850 Slater’s Directory of Worcestershire, John was classed under Grocers and Dealers in Sundries and Retailer of Beer in Alcester Street. In the 1855 Directory and Gazetteer of Worcestershire, John was Grocer and Beer Retailer, “Rising Sun”, Alcester Street.
