Notes: Wife Elizabeth (Hedges) (45) plus 4 working children + 1 younger child at home. (On the 1901 census the enumerator stopped at this house in Red Lion Street before going on to Red Lion Yard) No name of Inn stated but it was called the “White Lion Inn” on the 1911 census. Thomas was the licensee of the “White Lion Inn” 1898 – 1901. On the 1891 census they lived in Mount Pleasant, Redditch. In the 1884 and 1892 Kelly’s Directory Thomas was a Beer Retailer, Mount Pleasant. In the 1900 Kelly’s Directory Thomas was Beer Retailer, 10 Red Lion Street. Thomas died in 1909

Notes: Wife Mary Jane (Hill) (33) plus 2 daughters at home. On the 1901 census they lived in Windsor Street, Redditch. On the 1881 census Edwin lived with his parents Edwin and Eliza Pinfield in Ipsley. (In Old Redditch Pubs-Alan Foxall, Edwin was the licensee of the “White Lion Inn”, 1902-1928) In the 1884 & 1888 Kelly’s Directory Edwin was classed as Beer Retailer at 8 George Street, Redditch. In the 1892 Kelly’s Directory he was now a Beer Retailer in Windsor Street. In the 1912, 1924 & 1928 Kelly’s Directory Edwin was Beer Retailer, 10 Red Lion Street.

Notes: Mary (Bellamy) (36) plus 1 daughter + 5 step-children + 3 lodgers at home. No numbers stated on the early census but seems to be at 12 Red Lion Street. In Old Redditch Pubs-Alan Foxall, James was the licensee of “Red Lion Hotel” 1860-1886) On the 1851 census James was living with his mother Harriet Webb in Red lion Street but no numbers stated on the early census. James Webb was second cousin to William Webb, well known Baker and Confectioner in Evesham Street. Details on Webb Family web site.

(On the 1881 census the enumerator came to this house after 12 Red LIon Arch and then after this house went to Red LIon Yard) On the 1871 census they lived at the “Red Lion Inn”. In the 1870 Kelly’s Directory James was at the “Red Lion”, Red Lion Street. In the 1872 Post Office Directory James was at the “Red Lion”, Red Lion Street. In the 1884 Kelly’s Directory James is at the “Red Lion”, Red Lion Street. James died 19th August 1886 at the “Red Lion”. In the 1888 Kelly’s Directory Mary was now classed as being at the “Red Lion” Red Lion Street.

(On the 1891 census the enumerator started at this house in Red Lion Street after 2 Silver Street) Henry was the licensee of the “Red Lion Hotel” 1891-1896. On the 1881 census Henry was the Hotel Keeper of the “Crown Hotel”, Prospect Hill, Redditch 1880-1887. Henry Davis died in 1911

No name stated on the census but called the “Red Lion Hotel” on the 1911 census. (On the 1901 census the enumerator at this house started back on Red Lion Street after calling at Red Lion Yard) James was the licensee of the “Red Lion” 1900 -1902. On the 1891 census they lived in Orchard Street, Ipsley. On the 1881 census James lived with his parents Henry and Emma in Peakman Street and they were at 76 Evesham Street on the 1891 census. On the 1911 census James was a Needle Manufacturer and Retail Beer Seller in Edgbaston, Birmingham. In the 1900 Kelly’s Directory James was at the “Red Lion Inn”, Red Lion Street. In the 1900 Kelly’s Directory there was an entry for Redditch Angling Club (James Blackford, secretary) Red Lion Inn. In the 1900 Kelly’s Directory it stated United Patriots’ National Benifit Society (branch) (Chas Perry, secretary) Red Lion Inn.
