Harvey was the son of Polycarp and Ann Allcock who on the 1841 census lived in Easemore Lane, Redditch and he was the brother of Samuel Allcock who also lived in Adelaide Street on this census. The Allcock were well know Redditch Manufacturers of Fishing Tackle. On the 1861 census Harvey and Helen lived in Birmingham and Harvey was a Fish Hook Maker. In the 1855 Directory and Gazetteer, Harvey was Fish Hook & Tackle Maker, Adelaide Street. In the 1873 White’s Directory of Birmingham Harvey was a Fishing Tackle Manufacturer in 16 Bath Row, Birmingham.
