Notes:         William was a widower with two children. Richard William was aged 23, single, born in Rugby, Warwickshire, and a clerk in the Post Office. Mary W. was single, aged 26 and born in Rugby. The visitor was William Bevan, William Webb’s nephew. He was 16, single, and born in Bromsgrove. (The Church Road Post Office was built in 1888.) On the 1881 census William was married to Dorinda and they lived 20 William Street and William was classed as Inspector of Mail Apprentices. On the 1901 census William was now a widower and lived Church Street, Echington, Worcs., classed as Retired Postmaster. William Webb was listed as Postmaster in Kelly’s Directory of Worcestershire, 1892 & 1896.
