Notes: Walter’s wife, Mary A., was 50, born in Redditch and a [needle?] case maker. In 1871 and 1881 Walter W., his wife and their daughter, Mary E., were living in Margaret Place, Queen Street, Redditch. In 1871Walter was a needle finisher, and in 1881 he was a warehouseman. It is probable that he was the ‘Walter Powell’ in the Bromsgrove Workhouse in 1901 and 1911 described as a widower aged 65, born in Redditch and a former needle polisher/finisher. Curiously, Mary A. Powell was living at 32, Oakley Road, Redditch and described as married and living on her own means. She shared a house with Lionel Mears, her grandson, and Matilda Young,
