On the 1861, 1871 & 1881 census they lived in Ipsley Streetl. In the 1855 Billings Directory & Gazetteer there was a James Briggs, Butcher, Evesham Street. It could be this James and also his brother Thomas was also mentioned as Butcher and Dealer in Evesham Street. In the 1860 Post office Directory James was a Butcher Evesham Street & Ipsley Street as was his brother Thomas. In the 1870 Kelly’s Directory James was a Butcher in Evesham Street as was his brother Thomas. His father was Butcher and Farmer, Evesham Street & Tan Farm House. In the 1873 Littlebury’s Directory James is a Butcher in Ipsley Street and his brother Thomas in Evesham Street. In the 1884 Kelly’s Directory James is Butcher, Church Green West & Shopkeeper at 135 Ipsley Street. By the 1892 Kelly’s Directory he is a Butcher at 8 Evesham Street and his son Frederick seems to be a Butcher at 18 Church Green West. James died in 1899.
