Notes: Wife Sarah (35) plus 4 children (which included Thomas 14, who would later be a Butcher in Evesham Street on the 1861 census but no numbers stated on early census and James (10) who would later be a Butcher at 8 Evesham Street) + 1 male servant at home. On later census James and Sarah lived in Ipsely Street and James was a Butcher. In the 1842 Bentley’s Directory of Worcestershire James was a Butcher in Evesham Street. In the 1855 Billing’s Directory and Gazetteer there was a James Briggs classed as a Butcher in Evesham Street and also a Thomas Briggs, Butcher and Dealer, in Evesham Street, possibly their sons. In the 1860 Post Office Directory it seems James Briggs Senior was a Butcher Tann House Farm. In the 1870 Kelly’s Directory there was a James Briggs who was a Butcher and Farmer in Evesham Street & Tan House Farm. James died in 1874.
