Notes: Had Sarah Avery (35) plus 1 working child + 6 younger children (including James Avery who later lived at 36 Evesham Street) + 1 female servant at home. (On the 1841 census this house was the last the enumerator stopped at in Evesham Street before going on to New End) Seems to be living at the same address on 1851 census but no numbers mentioned on 1841 or 1851 census. A James Avery Inn Keeper and Needle Maker was known to be the licensee of the “Bull’s Head” 1835-1841 which was at 77 Evesham Street and this had become the “Temperance Hotel by 1860. Their son James and his siblings were living at this address on the 1851 census but he wasn’t classed as the head of the house. In the 1835 Pigot’s Directory of Worcestershire and James was classed as Retailer of Beer. In the 1842 Bentley’s Directory of Worcestershire Vol. 1 James is classed as Beer Seller & Needle &c., maker. James died 1849.
