Notes: Had 2 daughter + 5 boarders at home. (On the 1871 census the enumerator finished at this house along Alcester street before Smith Street) On the 1861 census Jane was married to George and they lived in Alcester street, possibly the same number as George was a Publican then. On the 1881 and later census the “Nags Head” was at 25 but no numbers stated on 1871 census. In the 1872 Post Office Directory Jane was classed as Beer Retailer, Alcester Street. In the 1873 Littlebury’s Directory and Gazetteer Jane is classed as Beer Retailer and Dairy Keeper, “Nag’s Head”, Alcester Street, Redditch. In the 1884 Kelly’s Directory Jane was a shopkeeper at 24 Unicorn Hill, Redditch. Jane was the licensee of the”Nags Head” 1872-1878. Jane died 1886.
