In the 1873 Littlebury’s Directory and gazetteer it stated that John Smallwood & Sons, Central Works, George Street, Redditch. At the time of his death 10th February 1891 John was living in Red Lion Street, Redditch and it stated that he was a Fish Hook and Fishing Tackle Manufacturer. On the 1891 census his wife Ann was living 26 Red Lion Street.
