In the 1880 Directory of Worcestershire Robert is classed as Show Case Maker, Red Lion Street. Another entry has him as being Timber Merchant & Packing Case Maker & Paint Dealer, Alcester Street. In the 1884 & 1888 Kelly’s Directory Robert was classed as Timber Merchants, Sawing Mills & Packing Case Makers, Alcester Street. Another entry in the 1888 Kelly’s Directory had him as living at 59 Prospect Hill, Redditch. Then in the 1892 Kelly’s Directory Robert was classed as Wholesale Cabinet & Fancy Case Manufacturer of every description for needles and cottons, haberdashery &c. Albert Street, Redditch. In the 1892 Kelly’s Directory Esther was classed as Mrs. E. Glossop, 38 Evesham Street, Fancy Repository.
