In the 1870 Post Office Directory James was classed as Beer Retailer and Shopkeeper. In the 1872 Kelly’s Directory, James was classed as Shopkeeper, Red Lion Street. In the 1873 Littlebury’s Directory and Gazetteer James was classed as Beer Retailer, Dairyman and Shopkeeper, Red Lion Street.
