(On the 1851 census the enumerator started at this house in Alcester Street after Beoley Street and then next door went back to Beoley Street. On later census Beoley Street became Alcester street) On the 1861 census they lived in Alcester Street but no numbers stated on the early census. On the 1841 census Charles lived with his parents John and Dinah in Headless Cross, Redditch. In the 1855 Billing’s Directory and gazetteer Charles was classed as Grocer and Provisions Dealer, Alcester Street. In the 1860 Post Office Directory Charles was Grocer, Alcester Street.
