On the 1891 census they lived in Orchard Street, Ipsley. On the 1881 census James lived with his parents Henry and Emma in Peakman Street and they were at 76 Evesham Street on the 1891 census. On the 1911 census James was a Needle Manufacturer and Retail Beer Seller in Edgbaston, Birmingham. In the 1900 Kelly’s Directory James was at the “Red Lion Inn”, Red Lion Street. In the 1900 Kelly’s Directory there was an entry for Redditch Angling Club (James Blackford, secretary) Red Lion Inn. In the 1900 Kelly’s Directory it stated United Patriots’ National Benifit Society (branch) (Chas Perry, secretary) Red Lion Inn.
