Notes: His wife, Charlotte (Perkins) was 41 and born in Acocks Green. Their daughter, Hilda, was 14 and born in Bromsgrove, Worcestershire. (The Church Road Police Station was built in 1898.) Inspector Beal had been in Redditch since 1900, and in 1901 he moved to Acocks Green to act as the newly appointed Superintendent of the Yardley Division. He was replaced by Inspector Hayes from Worcester (The Worcestershire Chronicle, 6 July, 1901). In 1891 Richard Beal was a police sergeant, and the family lived in Kings Norton. In 1911 he was a police superintendent and he and Charlotte were living at the Bromsgrove Police Station.
